Should we start up now or wait?

It has been brought into attention that now is a time of stress for many people due to finals. I would like to get an idea of the proportion of those who are having that problem. Please vote in the poll regarding your situation. If a good number of people are swamped with school and other real life stuff, we'll wait a few weeks until late May to start up the new system and contests.

Not swamped. I mean I have school but nothing that would make me not on cb. I finish school in 2 weeks though :)

this would be the perfect time for me to start- as it's just the beginning of new projects...

if i wait until late may, that's when i'll be absolutely bogged down by all these projects due at the same time xD

If the capacity to start is available (contest and new system is ready) then we should definitely have at least one ... and then allow a break if needed, since we've waited a long time for it anyway.

Also, as others said, (like me) their exams are "coming up" - so if you just have one now as a kick off, we can always wait another month, since you're considering waiting anyway.


At least this way
- give the divisions worth during the follow up break (ie, we can see the positions on the ladder, etc)
- it will get everyone back into the feel of belonging to a div
- and it will give you plenty of time to fix any problems you see in the new system / address any complaints once the contest is over :)

I would say wait a few weeks. I know that my workload isnt that heavy, but I see a lot of complaining about school work and such. After finals people should have more free time, and if your in high school, deal with it (high schools around here get out in June).

I believe we've waited long enough. In my opinion, one or three inactive people in a division due to work/school for 1 to 2 contests isn't that bad.

This is exactly the reason that I made this poll. From the results, exactly 50% of the voters say that they want a postponement of a few weeks. Because we're starting up a whole system, not just contests, it's better to have as many people as possible at the launch.

We'll wait somewhere between 2-4 weeks before starting up, leaning more towards 2 than 4. Meanwhile, divisions can think about what they'd like to do for their divisional project, as it'll account for roughly 50% of the ladder. The divisional projects will be further elaborated once the new system gets posted, but it wouldn't hurt to think about it if you're bored. We'll try to get as many contests lined up as we can, so we can save time in the long run.

If there are people complaining about finals this week, people will be complaining about finals in 2-4 weeks, and then people will start taking vacations, getting jobs for the first time, applying to college, etc. There will never be a good time for everyone. Start it up as soon as you (the mods) are done implementing the system/ready to post the contest.
