Ok, for me, December is movie going month! There are so many movies being released (or have recently been released) in the theaters which I have been WAITING to see for a long time.
They are as followed:
1. Chronicles of Narnia
2. Memoirs of a Geisha
3. Pride & Prejudice
4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Which ones have you been waiting for?

From your choice, ONLY narnia. I refuse to see Memoirs of A Geisha, since the main lead is being played by a Chinese woman!!! You American directors spit on our Japanese culture, even though Memoirs was written by an American....
::mutter to self::
Anyway, I'm totally excited about Narnia, since Aslan is voiced by Liam Neeson. The CGI looks good. I cant wait!

You could have just said you didn't want to see the movie, there is no need to bash Americans in the process of your statement. And you are making the 'You American directors' referral to the general population. Please tell me, how can you back this accusation up?

First of all, I have American/Japanese dual citizenship. That gives me the immediate license to make fun of both cultures. Just kidding :D
An good example of "spitting on the Japanese film industry" was the Ring. If you think the Ring was "scary".. (in my opinion it wasnt) you need to see Ringu, whose plot makes sense and was far more concise than the American remake. What I mean by "spitting on our culture" is that the American directors took many aspects of Japanese culture such as ancestor worship and turned it into a Satanic premise.
Another example is Lady Snowblood, which is the story of a lady sworn to revenge her father, killed in cold blood, and her mother sent into prostitution. The fight scenes, soundtrack, and excessive fake blood were ripped off by... Kill Bill. There are tons of other examples such as the Magnificent Seven which was a rip off the Seven Samurai... and so on.
I was kidding at first, but now you've gotten me rather riled up about this.
I think what I'm trying to say is this: Why can't American directors employ Japanese actors to play a Japanese story, because using an A-list Chinese actor for the main role takes a lot of credibility out of how they made the rest of the film. Why can't American screenwriters come up with their own ideas and stop taking the ideas of Japanese films and attempting to make them palatable to the general American populace?

I am looking forward to see Narnia since I read the book lately, I am even more interested to see how they filmed it.
And please keep your argument in a low level, we would not want to start some serious quarell going up here right?

Sorry, I was just curious. I don't think the disrespect is intentional toward the Japanese culture.
Didn't Harry Potter cut out a lot of parts from the book though? I will probabally not end up watching it.
I'm so excited for the release of Chronicles of Narnia on friday though!

Isnt the first book the Magician's Nephew? Are they making the films in the order Lewis wrote them rather than chronological order?

I think they are, considering Lewis wrote The Magician's Nephew after The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Magician's Nephew will probably end up last (if they even plan to continue it).
Anyway, I've already seen the 4th Harry Potter movie, and I'm just angry that they made Krum less stupid. I'm really looking forward to the Narnia movie, though..
