Well, naturally I'm a really light shade of tan, and i guess exposure to sun made my elbows onward (forearms) and my neck up a couple shades darker, rather...not to my preference..

I was wondering if there are ways to...return my poor forearms (and my neck/face) to their original lighter shades...without using something that'll give me skin cancer or cost me a lot of money, so to speak.

I'm about to try just wearing longsleeves whenever I go outside, although it's ridiculously hot nowadays. (Southern New york-summer)

Ok... my only suggestion that doesn't involve money is to::

A) Stop going outside except when you absolutely can not avoid it...

or
B) live with the fact your tanning and be happy... atleast you're not one of the Millions of beople that only Burn in the sun

"Fair skin creams"? After a few applications they apparently lighten the skin - for you, back to what it was.

Try to ask in pharmacies.

Take off your shirt completely and your whole top will be dark :)

The darkness is not to preference, not the contrast in colours.. that would just make it worse.

over time it wouold catch up. i have found if you were to go to a tanning bed, wrap your armsin towels, and your head and neck, and let the rest of you tan. i know a girl who did that ,im serious took a week of every day tanning but it worked rofl.

haha i have that problem too :)

but really, i just learned to live with it- it's not really the most important thing in the world ^^

so maybe just a change of perspective is in order- costs nothing :p

^ lulz..

Have the same problem btw. Long sleeves don't really solve it.. they don't seem to go too much lighter.. as earlier suggested by others if you don't want to spend anything just don't make it any worse :\

Careful though, not being the sun can easily give you Vitamin D deficiency even though you have tanned skin ..

:nono: No, no, no, no, noooooooo! Don't ever use those, they should be banned (in fact in some places I think they are). Those "lighteners" break down and damage melanin which is important for potecting you from skin cancer. Plus they cause temporary scarring, if not permanant in some cases after a period of use.

Ju: I guess you'll have to live with it. You could wear light coloured cotton long sleeved tops to avoid getting unevenly tanned.

My arms got pretty dark since I'm almost always out in the sun (dubai weather > ;_____; ) and I still haven't figured out a way to get rid of them. I've gotten used to it anyway. Even if I did find a solution, i'd still keep getting more and more tanned because of the country I live in.

Those 'lightening' lotions/creams/anything don't work :<
And what Sophire is true =]

your right, the creams DO NOT WORK, dont waste your money, nor time, nor skin lol. best bet is too tan it up, covering arms and head with towel, i seen my girlfriend do it once and it worked, took about a week for real! just suggestion it. i think it would take care of your prob...it might have been two weeks come to think of it...

Wow... I actually find this a lil offensive a couple shades darker, rather...not to my preference..

Especially for the darker skinned people..most people don't realise that wearing sunscreen works, or that they're supposed to put some on their neck because it burns just as much. Ive got fairly tanned skin and my neck used to be heaps darker than everywhere else but now it doesn't look bad no more.

It's not.

People who are born white have a preference to be slightly/majorly tanned.

That's not offensive to white people, is it? It's just how what they prefer.

It's the same thing. Just because you were born tanned doesn't mean you can't have preferences. The problem here, with people who are not complelety dark skinned is that when one section becomes darker than the rest, it looks weird. The skin is naturally a lighter shade so they like to maintain the same look all over.
If you're white, you don't tan your arms but leave the rest of your body white :)

Hey Dec, what happened to my post..? :o
- was spam, I deleted it // Dec

As for the whole tanning issue, if your tan is as dark as a white person's in winter then you definitely need some work done. If it's the color of mahamri/mandazi then you don't really need to worry. IMO it doesn't rlly matter if part of your body (ie arms/legs) is a tone or two darker than the rest of your body...

but if the contrast is THIS BIG:

All I can say is good luck.
