Current reputation levels around the entire forum is on the whole rather large..>_>..Hence the reason the extra Rep blocks were brought in to expand the reputation system for our extended reputations an easier way to solve the problem and make the rep system somewhat new again would be to merely increase the values needed to reach certain block numbers. At the moment all you need is 1500 points to get the full length of rep blocks...Increase this. So say at my current level i'd only have half rep blocks.

I dont think many people would be happy if their rep bar was cut in half.

well yes, that is what the medals are for, so after you get all the blocks teh next thing is medals (which in turn require more points than 1 block so their harder to get)

as for ppl not being happy if their rep bar got cut in half.... its not the blocks that mean anything, they are there strictly for aesthetics, its your rep power that really counts :p

Medals are for things like Biggest rep point value, Most active user, Person who posts in the most threads etc.

Whilst peoples rep bars would diminish they would retain their rep point value. Basically all that would change is that you'd need a larger point value to get more bars.

Ya, thats the one. Your rep bar has gone to a second line Killa, when do you get a medal then? Just curious how many bars constitute a medal.

After you get 10k rep points you get the medal and your rep bars start over.

And on my screen Killa only has one line.... maybe it's your skin

I never quite understood why it was necessary to translate rep points into a "rep power" number. Why not just put the rep point number in the sidebar?

Rep power and rep points are two different things. Check the FAQ for reps.

A run down anyway:

- you get rep power for things such as posts and join date. This rep power can used to +rep or -rep people. This is the rep that adds to or removes from others points.

- the rep points as said above, is what you get from others. When you get a certain amount, your rep power also increases.

The rep POINTS determines your BARS. The rep power determines just the number.

It needs to be seperate so you know how much rep you are giving and taking away. If someone has 5449 rep points next to their bars - that says nothing about how much rep they give to someone when they plus rep them.

I like the suggestion. But at the same time I would say that anyone repping for purposeless things is rep abuse, and that's a main reason the rep is so high. Just don't rep someone every week for things. For example, anyone who wins a Poetry contest has a massive increase in rep every week. This should perhaps be modified with the new rep system, so that only the winner receives any sort of rep. This would make more sense in "cherishing" the power of the rep system.

Every month on CB = +1 rep Power

Every 100 posts (where they count) = +1 rep Power

Every 50 points of rep you receive from another member's +rep to you = +1 rep Power

Rep points determine your Rep Power (what you add to another when you +rep them)

I dont think that is really rep abuse. People give rep to people they think deserve it, not because its obligatory or the situation is appropriate. If somebody wrote a really good poem that got to them, it would be in their interest to rep the person who wrote it.

I expanded on this in the Poetry Suggestions thread, perhaps go there to see what I mean and look at the prizes for each week.

I of course know what rep abuse is. Maybe I should have made myself clearer... because I never said repping a poem was rep abuse.

It was an issue raised by a rep giver (as a prize) of the Poetry competition, so it seems adequete to question the prize of the poetry corner itself.

To win poetry should be acknowledged with rep, as it is deserved as much as other avenues of gaining rep.

However since the issue was with rep itself, it does raise the question: "Is rep being too easily gained in this form?"

But if it's accomplished, all that would be needed to do is increase the amount of rep points it takes to earn one. Say from 10k to 15 or 20k

I think it stops after 2 rows... but again, it could easily be changed to continue in medal fashion. But still... you'd have to get 100k rep points for it to even need to be considered lol

No stars on blackdesire..which is the skin I use..

Anyhow original suggestion still stands...Raise the max amount of points needed for the max amount of bars by a lot and so on down the rep point ladder so basically at the level which the user on the forum has the highest rep points they would only be at half red bar level.

Well not everyone has the stars.. maybe you're looking at people who don't have them. I think only Yuki, Silver and Minami have them

Yea, I agree with you. And I think that a lot of people, whether they would like to admit it or not, would be really pissed to see their rep bars decrease to half the size they are now overnight.

actually now that i think about it, i believe that was for the old full set of bars, which was only 10, now that theres 20 it should be 3000 for a full bar

im suggesting this cause im a stickler for organization and evenness :p

i been thinking about it and i suggest that each bar be 500 rep points to earn in opposition to the 100 it takes now (atleast according to the FAQ) but it seems to me if you need 3000points for a full bar of 20, that would be 150 >.>

again anyways...
500points/block would make it an even jump from gaining full rep bars to the gold star medal.

But I think increasing the values if a good idea. I mean, the rep bars don't really mean much compared to rep points and rep power. So I say increase the values...

I usually just create a new thread for a posted suggestion if it turns into a discussion...







I have a suggestion.

I close this thread and members can make new threads for their suggestions. This way no member's suggestion gets buried pages back by new suggestions.
