plot summary: At the beginning of the Edo Era, when people enjoyed a time of peace, Lord Tokugawa Tadanaga holds a fighting tournament. In the past, matches were fought with wooden swords. This time, real swords will be used. One-armed Fujiki Gennosuke and blind Irako Seigen will fight each other in this match. Both are disciples of Iwamoto Kogan, who is known as Japan's greatest swordsman. Each of them are determined to prove himself the successor of Iwamoto's school. However, there can only be one champion. So begins a story of intertwining fates, conflict, and strange destinies.
ok i dont know how many people who watched this but for those that havent i strooooooooooooooongly recommend it if you like authentic samurai anime's. IMO this is prolly one of the best, well drawn anime's ive ever scene. The cinematic's and just overall use of the artisit freedom that is anime is breathtaking. Plus it's quite gory and theres plenty of nudity if that's your thing.
what i really started this thread for, though, was to of course... discuss it
mainly because the ending leaves you with sooooo many questions, like who won the original 1st episode battle, how did fujiki lose his arm, how did irako cripple his foot, and wat became of ushimata or w/e the big smiling guys name is.... i thought about looking for manga to explain the rest but no one seems to have past Vol 2 Chapter 1 translated, even though the anime leaves u at Vol 6 chapter 2 or 3 i think... and im also wondering if the anime is even done? because you would think something as amazing as this wouldnt end so abruptly and would have proper funding, but then again the same thing happened to Berserk
so go watch it and then come back
