A pretty wild anime that many are looking forward to. But did you know ep 1 already aired yesterday? Actually, 'aired' is not really the correct term because this show is actually a pay-per-view that's only available on your PS3 PSN.

Well, maybe for a pretty good series like this one, you might even cough up the money that you've been saving in your piggy bank. But here's another catch, this series is, so far only available to the US PSN, not anywhere else around the world. Also the HD is a 24-hr self-destructing bomb that once you play it, it will automatically lock after 1 day (ie. you rent the HD video).

This is apparently anime studios' new way of tackling piracy and boosting DVD sales. If there's any good news, the episode is fully translated in english. Americans actually get first dibs on anime before Japanese and the sun is risen from the West.

Whatever the case, it might be a pain in the ass (or impossible?) to capture the video without losing the quality. Someone can prove me wrong on this as I do not own a PS3. If that's the case, it might take a while for these episodes to spread without suffering quality damage (youtube quality).

As for whether it will still air on Japanese TV comes fall, I'm not sure. I'll (or anyone) can update us on this when they find more info.

Jesus christ, 1.5gigs for the HD file... Even if I had the money to shell out I wouldn't rent it, 3-4 hours of download is too effing long. Plus, if I really wanted to watch in HD, I'd just download the HD rip when it comes out and hook a laptop onto my TV.

But seriously, $4 bucks for 20 minutes of anime... NO.

Seeing as it's quite popular, it will definitely get a Japanese TV release, I'm sure of it. Let's put our faith in our lovely fansubbers :P

So why would they have it be broadcasted on TV and delivered on PSN the same time? Japanese fans are very unhappy though.

The TV version could be SD, with PSN showing HD. Another possibility is to release the complete series on PSN, and then show on TV weekly episodes.

Either way tho, it would seem to be a very poor business decision to limit the series to only PSN. The amount of money spent producing the show should greatly overwhelm the amount of money made through its downloads.

Well, I think they will realize their poor choice when the fanbase for this is extremely low, and fans are boycotting the whole idea of paying for first broadcast. I dont like the idea either, but I cant exactly say I pay for anime either.

I dont know about this series though, on one hand it is Miyazaki and all, but I couldnt really get much out of the whole video. I guess ill see it eventually, if I can ever download it.

I meant the /baka gif, not the Nanoha quote lol. The actual quote was "Friend" instead of "Wife". Believe it was from A's where she was dealing with Vita, or it might've been in the first one with Fate. Wife sounds better doesn't it? :P

OMG, episode 1 has the makings of an epic, right there. The art and animation blend together like a Miyzaki movie, and the story and characters are really rather interesting.

And I will say, the OP was great, but I think this is the first time I've felt in love with the ED of an anime. Its just phenomenal. <3

NF's most likely the best, GGR has probably better audio but inferior video. Haven't tried the uncle ones but I remember reading that they have their own flaws too.

I wonder if Nakiami and Akiyuki will have some development between them, they look good together. The only obstacle is this Raigyo guy which is very likely the cameraman shown in the OP. He also appears in the ED.

This thread is tl;dr. But I'll give my input on this series.

This series, is full of win. The OP theme is one of the best I've heard in years. Best name too, SHUT UP AND EXPLODE.

And about the renting it... I do it. Every week. It's damn worth it, and I suggest those of you with a PStriple do the same. I mean, how many of us are ripping off the Japanese animation companies every week? This is our first REAL chance to pay for an anime BEFORE we can get it from fansubs. Just my two-cents.

I've finally caught up to ep 12. So Furuichi is a Xam'd after all, people had been speculating something's wrong with his leg and it finally shows. Too bad that this being an exclusive to the PSN kind of brought down its potential fanbase. This is actually a really good series.
