The IFMagazine.com entertainment website reports that film producer Erwin Stoff (The Matrix, A Scanner Darkly) is developing a live-action adaptation of Sunrise's Cowboy Bebop multi-genre action anime series for Fox. Stoff told the website that the project is "in the really early stages" since the parties "just signed it the other day."...Link (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-07-22/live-action-cowboy-bebop-film-in-development-at-fox)

So pwness in my humble opinion...I think this is an anime that would work great as a life action movie...Not to mention that if they get a good enough budget it'll be most excellent....^^

Thoughts?

Cool. The Matrix was good so I am expecting something good for this. I havent watched A Scanner Darkly though but I might since I hear its ok too.

Wonder who is gonna play Spike and Vicious and... Faye :D

I think by default, someone like Michael Clark Duncan would end up as Jet Black. I'd expect Uma Thurman to end up as Faye.

I'm not sure how this would work as a movie to be honest. Each character has quite a big background and I'm not sure a movie would do that justice. The movie would have to be set at a point where everyone has already joined up.

Anime is awesome, it's story is so rich. Personally I can see this anime maid in to the movie.

HELL YES. I'd love to see who'd play Spike. I'II sh*t my pants if it's Brad Pitt. ROFL. As for Jet, I'd like to see that dude who was in PotC who was always with Jack on the Pearl play Jet. I forgot his name. :/

Interesting, but knowing Hollywood, they'll somehow manage to screw this up. At least the producer has some credibility under his belt.

Now that you've mentioned Pitt, I could see him and Jolie doing Spike and Faye.

Good thing it won't happen though as their salaries would bankrupt the movie.

That and he doesnt have the right build for Spike, it'll probably be some actor that no ones heard of yet.

Either way i do think this is the type of Anime's they should be trying to make as its based on actual humans.

This seems like such a bad idea! Live adaptations never work out well in the end! *cough* G-Savior *cough*

(The live action Gundam movie)
(It was REALLY bad)

Although he's never done a project like this before (Except Serenity/Firefly, but there's still a big difference) I really think Joss Whedon, of Buffy and Firefly fame, would be a great choice to direct this movie.

I still say its a bad idea, regardless

Apparently Keanu Reeves might be playing Spike. What does everybody think? Will Keanu have afro-like hair? :D

I think this might turn out to be okay as long as I don't try to compare it to the anime too much

Hmmm, I'm on the fence for this movie. It all comes down to the direction they want to take the movie in and who they get for the parts. Death Note proves that anime/manga can do well in live action. But this is a completely different genre (though still feasible) and it's being made by us Americans...and Hollywod. Which means even if the director wants to take it in a good direction, he may have to submit to the funding. >.<

Here's to hoping it works out.

I'd prefer them to just make another season of Cowboy Bebop, but I'll be watching this regardless, since Cowboy Bebop is my favorite anime. They better pick good actors to play the parts though. If they ruin this, I'm going to hate Hollywood forever. This is going to be very tricky for them to get right.

Is this supposed to be a movie, or a TV series?
