Yeah. I thought his power was stupid too. I'd seen that same power used so many times before in a lot of other series. Forgot which ones. So I didn't and still don't think much of him.

It's strange. I know Kubo has a tendency to avoid giving his characters a proper personality, with even those with most prominent traits (say Renji - rebellious, caring, dedicated, headstrong, and so on) lack a full personality and mostly focus on a few specific traits (heroism, emotional fragility, dedication and so on) , but to not even give a character a proper flashback? To not even properly introduce him as more than Aizen's puppet?

Zomari started as calm and intelligent, seeking the quickest way to end a conflict without trying. That gave a little hope that he would show some character. Instead, he ends up with "I will kill you", not getting a flashback, not even showing why he likes Aizen so much or how is his personality structured (centered around killing, perhaps, hence explaining his tendency to kill quickly?).

Kubo failed extremely hard there.

His design was lame (PUMPKIN!? What the ****. After Grimmjow's badass sleek panther mode, a friggin' pumpkin!?), his power was lame ("I control everything I see! MUWAHAHAHAHAH" well **** you, how about something more interesting, like I dunno, controlling immobile objects only? Shooting them as projectiles? Combining them with your speed? ANYTHING!?), and his lips kept getting bigger and bigger with each panel until he screamed the final "Aizen-sama".

Either Kubo is racist or he just got pummeled for making a potentially badass black-skinned character. I certainly hope it is the latter.

But that's the thing, Byakuya didn't need a redeeming match, it's not like he "lost", even. He just walked away and then returned saving lil' sister like a hero.

It's not like Kenpachi, who was actually downed by Ichigo (though we can excuse that easily enough, no real need for a redeeming match either) or Mayuri who had his ass handed to him by a pompous four-eye...

Plus it was pretty degrading for Byakuya, acting out a scene from Asian movies... Asian brother saving little weak sister from big black guy? Pff.

I feel bad Byakuya had to be there at all. It degraded him a lot. The whole scene was so fail, Byakuya was made to look lame. After the awesomness of the scarf and the monkey and the moon, Byakuya has to go and waste his power on a lameass dude like this, who disgraces the writer and - painfully so - every other dark skinned person on the planet.

It should have been someone else to take him out. Someone who didn't get the chance to look awesome before, so they won't get ruined.

Why Kubo? Why did you have to make such a lame character? Couldn't you put more thought into him? Make him a little less lameshit!?

Byakuya could have went up against a much better opponent.
...I mean come on! Wonderwiess (SP?) Is better than Zomari. Almost ANYONE is better than Zomari.
I kinda knew from the start that Byakuya would be going to Hueco Mundo to get Rukia, but to make him fight such a lame opponent...COME ON!
I know Kubo can do MUCH better than that....
I am however happy that Byakuya was shown some more in the maga. XD
