I havent seen a lot of people who have seen this series, so I wanted to know if anyone here had. I love this series. It has a cool plot, fantastic animation and gorgeous music!
I haven't watched it in a while, though I might re watch it soon.
ps: I made sure that there was no other thread.

from MAL:
"A dream of falling from the sky...and then birth. Rakka is born from a large cocoon into the Old Home, greeted by a group of females with small wings on their backs and shining halos above their heads. Soon Rakka’s own wings grow, a halo is placed on her head and she is told that she must work in the nearby town of Grie. She soon realizes that the town and the entire world they live in are confined behind the Wall, a tall, impenetrable wall that none except the mysterious Toga are allowed to exit."
13 episodes. really unique. reminded me a tiny bit of mushishi.

Its hard to find good subs, though. To this day, I have no idea who did the subs that I have.

A4E (http://anime-4ever.org/index.php?s=bt&loc=1)has the full dual audio DVD rips on torrent.
To be honest, while I liked Haibane Renmei for its execution and atmosphere, I didn't identify with the plot, and it was hardly interesting. The slice of life aspects were great, but the idea of dreams, freedom, and the outside world were somewhat incoherent and lacked a sense of foundation. Many of the events were sparingly explained, leaving the viewer to fill in the blanks, which I dislike.
Overall tho, very good. Worth watching just for the sake of watching if nothing else.

Alas, when do our dreams make sense to the rest of the world? Is our imagination and our dreams doomed to lack coherency to others?

Ah yes, very true. But, in which case, coherancy is a necessary ingredient towards getting other people to buy into one's idea, or in this case, dream. And in most cases, the dreamer himself wouldn't even buy into his dream, unless it was coherant and easy to understand.

Yeah, I guess so. I thought it flowed nicely at least... I also wanted a chance to use some fancy language.

there are too many coherent animes out there. nothing wrong with making some slightly inccoherent ones. plus, haibane renmei felt completely different from most animes ive seen, so that amke sautomatically great for me.
i dont mind not knowing everything thats going on, like in animes like Lain.

The music is gorgeous. I bought the OST and I use it to go to sleep during the school year. A lot of the tracks are very calming
