Plot summary: In the highly anticipated new installment of "The Terminator" film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.
Current cast:
* Christian Bale as John Connor: The battle-experienced leader of the Tech-Com human resistance, who is now in his early thirties, is waging war against Skynet after it has destroyed much of humanity in a nuclear holocaust. Bale was the first person to be cast and signed on for the role in November 2007. McG talked extensively with Bale in England about the role, and they both agreed to move forward. Bale is a fan of the films, and liked the script. He has signed on to appear in two sequels. He and McG kept working on the story every day.
* Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese: A teenaged soldier and admirer of John Connor. In The Terminator, to ensure the survival of the human race, he was sent back in time, and fathered John with Sarah Connor.
* Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright: A decommissioned Terminator, who befriends Connor and Reese. His last memory is of being on death row, and Connor is unsure of whether he is from the past or the future. Terminator creator James Cameron personally recommended Worthington (whom he directed in Avatar) to McG. Worthington tore a muscle on his left ribs during the first weeks of filming, but nevertheless insisted on performing his own stunts.
* Bryce Dallas Howard as Kate Connor: John's wife, who is helping him build his resistance. Charlotte Gainsbourg was originally set to play the part, but left because of scheduling conflicts with another film.
* Moon Bloodgood as Blair Williams: A "a no-nonsense and battle-hardened" pilot in the resistance suffering from survivor guilt.
* Common as Barnes: A freedom fighter and John's right-hand man.
* Roland Kickinger as the prototype T-800: This will be the first Terminator film in which Arnold Schwarzenegger does not play the Model 101 Terminator, because he is serving his second term as Governor of California.
Nevertheless, he granted the Halcyon Company permission to use his likeness in the film. The Austrian-born actor previously portrayed Schwarzenegger in a 2005 biographical film on the A&E Network. When asked about his role, Kickinger said it's "Arnold's character in the first Terminator. That's basically my role, but 20 years before, so it establishes how the Terminator [came] about." He also revealed that there is a "very strong scene in the film where John Connor for the first time meets the Terminator, and he doesn't know if he's a good guy or a bad guy."

Additional cast members include Jadagrace as Star, Chris Ashworth as Richter, Chris Browning as Morrison, and Jane Alexander. Helena Bonham Carter has been confirmed to star in a "small but pivotal" role as a character named Serena, who may be the lead villain.

I am pretty excited to see this as I enjoyed all the Terminator movies but Terminator 3 slightly lesser than Terminator 1 and 2. The Sarah Connor Chronicles is ok though but when it was on (where I live) I didn't regularly watch it.

I think Christian Bale will do a good job as John Connor. As for Bryce Dallas Howard, I have only seen her in Spider-man 3 and she was ok in that even though the movie wasn't that great. I am surprised Helena Bonham Carter is in it. Wonder if she will be a Terminator or human.

Teaser trailer looks kinda cool btw :D

It has Christian Bale in it, its IMBA!

oh and Moon Bloodgood.... geeez that name is dope!

I don't expect a deep story, I just hope the action is on a decent level like in previous Terminator movies (just way improved due to higher cgi capabilities). Terminator is cult just like Rambo. For me a must see just because I enjoy watching the old movies even tho some ppl rant about horrible acting. it's a robot for gods sake xD

Hmmm. Funny, I drempt about battling a Terminator T-800 this morning. How ironic. I may see it. Hope it surpasses the 3rd Terminator movie, which sucked, and be more of an interesting and invigorating movie to view!

I only hope this film is not as disappointing as Rocky Balboa. (which sucked)
I think it won't be as good or as enjoyable as the first two. (Face it, the first 2 PWN) I pray it's not as disappointing as Alien Vs Predator. (which was an epic disappointment.)

It's great to see Bale picking up more high profile roles. He really is a talented actor. Still pretty skeptical about this one, though; with McG directing and all.

I don't really have high hopes for this movie, and for one that Arnold isn't going to be in this one, due to the fact he is governor of California and all, so I understand.

Yeah, the third one wasn't too good, lets just hope this one won't ruin the whole series.

I hope they don't reference anything from the Sarah Connor Chronicles (though its doubtful they'd do it) since I thought the Sarah Connor Chronicles was kinda disappointing and wasn't that great (though I would occasionally watch it still). I have medium to high hopes for Terminator 4 as most of the Terminator movies so far are good (Terminator 3 wasn't as great as 1 and 2 though).

The third movie was HORRIBLE! I honestly can't believe I payed to watch the movie back then. It was too boring, very bland... I don't know, I just didn't like it at all. I'm just hoping "Salvation" makes up for the epic failure of Terminator 3...

Its a cameo. Arnie probably just appears once in the movie and is gone the next second. Arnie might appear as a prototype T-800/850 sitting on a shelf/standing there at the end of the movie getting ready to be sent back in time to the first Terminator movie and thats it and like +Bluthusten said, it doesn't mean he has to talk :D

Apparently its been confirmed that Arnie is in Terminator 4. Apparently Arnie's involvement is to have a fully rendered digital face of Arnie replacing the recently cast Roland Kickinger (the younger version of Arnie).
