One of my current favourites. I'm sure many of us can relate to him in some way, some more than others.. personality wise of course.

Based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, it's a tv show about a guy named Dexter who can't feel emotion and has a sociopathic need for killing. But he focuses all his kills on criminals who have slipped through the system.

I love this show. I only just started watching the show recently on channel Ten (Aus), although I found out a little later that season 2 or whatever is airing on a Showtime channel.

Season 3 starts soon. The ending to season 1 was quite possibly the most epic thing ever.

Season 2 was a letdown in comparison to Season 1 but was still very very amazing.

I've been catching it weekly in Australia. Sunday has become a pretty good night for tv (free tv, of course... i don't watch a lot of tv in general), what with The Einstein Factor, Flight Of The Conchords, Dexter, and Doctor Who.

Not a bad show.

It is easily one of the best shows on television. Season 1 was damn near perfect. Season 2 although not as good as season 1 was still pretty awesome. Season 3 starts this september. Here's a trailer...

Definitely one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. After the horror of watching Terminator's ending Dexter was the damn Holy Grail. And of course, Season 2 couldn't quite match up to Season 1; but then again, Season 1 was some serious shiet.

But I'm definitely looking forward to Season 3. Let's hope it's another hooker, with no doubt that it won't be xD.

I've also read Darkly Dreaming Dexter and Dearly Devoted Dexter. Going to get Dexter in the Dark when I can.

@Manchester... If you've seen Mr. Brooks with Kevin Costner then you've seen a very diluted and shit version of Dexter. Where it has a similar storyline... "Joe Everyday" moonlights as a Serial Killer but in the end doesn't come close to the brilliance that is Dexter.

Are they showing two episodes on Sunday? Or just the one? I would see it quite pointless for just one, seeing as we've all seen it already, but you can just never know...

The screener was actually quite gripping, gotta say, I hope they bring Dex back to his glory in the first season. Props to Batista for getting D.S, he's the only one that deserves it, and his character looks to have a much more central role this time. Doakes had his go, I guess it's Batista's now.

I love Michael Hall from what he did in Six Feet Under, and I remember watching one of those channels like FX or TNT and they were playing a bit of a preview of Dexter. I forgot to mention one of my favourite bits of the new ep earlier.


I love the parallel between Dexter and that new cop whose brother was killed by Dexter.

That moment at the funeral (when there was about 12 mins of the ep left) was awesome, when the cop asked Dexter whether he had a brother. The entire mood of the scene changed. You could actually see the sadness on his face as the memories came flooding back, and the piano played in the background.

It was done so well - these small things are what carry shows from mediocre to one of the best.

It was great to see because it means they haven't entirely forgotten about Biney, since he played such a massive role on Dexter's life, I did think it was rather abrupt that they did away with his story in the first two eps of sesaon 2.

Yeah I loved that scene too. This season will bring some sadness into Dexter with all this brother love thing that he got involved. And I loved the new cop personality, it surprised me...He's really interesting. The "My brother don't suffer of the perfection disease' or something. xD I liked that sentence.

I'm on the last ep of season 1 and I've got to say, I'm a little disappointed by how predictable it's been and also how the whole "Bad guy getting to you through the one you love" cliché had been played out.

But I heard that s2 is better than 1 from a reliable source, so I'll keep watching :D.

I really thought Season 1 was amazing. At least better than Season 2 imo... Although Season 2 also was a close second.

But yeah... If you really didn't enjoy Season 1 then you'll probably appreciate Season 2 better.

Just watched the new episode and it was great again...This 3rd season is getting great and letting me more and more curious. I think the skin asassin is pretty clear now...Going by the logic that some well known actor appeared like some random guy...So... I think is pretty clear...Now we just have to wait to know him better and his reasons. Oh and Miguel Prado is by FAR a better character than I ever could thought.

Anyway I'm on Season 2 episode 6 at the moment, its getting good :D. Although I dislike the fact that the British actress was told to make her accent more "British" and the result was really shite :/.

If you knew he was the brother throughout the entire show then it would not have seemed lame at all, because if you go back and rewatch it like a lot of people do, you'd see how intelligentlly it was weaved.

Also it was used to show that Biney was the only one who managed to illicit the first real tear from Dexter.

the brotherhood bond is something that may not appeal to everyone..

Never said it wasn't good just predictable and a cliché but it worked well because of their past. Also the way Rudy killed the whores was pretty cool but the fact that Dexter couldn't see that it was him or even a little suspicious until the end of the 11th ep really down played Dexter's intellect. Like he couldn't link the fact that the Ice Truck Killer set the room up to make him dig up memories to Rudy questioning him about how it should of brought back memories.

Also the fact they brought Dexter's past up I could tell some biological family member was going to be alive and show themselves.

But anyway the second series is getting good. Glad he's seeing Lila more now as he's getting more in touch with other feelings that dont make him want to murder.

I think that was the point. It was showing that Brian >> Dexter, since he's older, smarter, etc.

Yeah I got that from making Brian's kills cleaner than Dexters, but making Brian >> Dexter by also making Dexter less intelligent than he was supposed to be wasn't a good way to show it imo.

Edit: Finished season 2, was so much better than the 1st. I <3d the ending :D.

Oh I love this show! All of the seasons have been good so far. Sometimes I want to smack Dexter across the head though with how he treats Rita sometimes, but then at the end he usually treats her well and it makes me reconsider! lol
I HATED Lila. She annoyed me from the moment she appeared...just think she is rather skanky, she helped Dexter alot at first but she was just a jealous backstabbing bish imo...
