My friend and me decided to try writing a book together and this is the first chapter.
Threatened.
My rigid face was pounding with the next punch that rammed my head. I heard a sudden ringing that stung my ears. I looked up at his blurred infuriated face ready to exterminate him, yet knowing the consequences would be to much of a hazard. I felt my wet turgid face from the warm flushed blood now surrounding it. It wasn’t hard to picture.
His eyes were fierce staring me down as I grasped onto his neck and shoved him against a wall choking him. I heard muffled alarmed screaming in the background. I tried not to pay attention to the people yelling let him go and stop! This is wrong. I didn’t care what they thought. I knew he deserved it, anyone who would dare to drop so low warranted this. I shuddered at the unsettling memory.
“Help!” screamed a terrified girl, I could barely hear her over the roar of the music.
“I just wanna have some fun, sweetie,” spoke a clearly drunken voice.
I couldn’t stand it. I walked casually over to the drunken bastard and pushed him away from what seemed to be a drugged teen girl.
“What’s your problem!” he retorted as he turned.
Ace.
“Lets take this outside.” was all I said as I started walking towards the door.
“Adam, I’ve been wan’ing to beat the crap out o’ you for a long time.” he smirked as he followed me outside.
“ugh,” Ace had punched me in the gut while I was lost in my thoughts.
It only took me a few seconds to get him on the ground. I put my knee on his neck and started to crush it.
He was trying to say something. If I was him I’d put up my white flag and surrender. I gave him one last torrid punch and that made a disgusting crack. I wasn’t sure if I broke my hand or his skull. It felt like my hand but I wanted it to be his skull.
I looked up at everyone’s shocked faces and people came rapidly to his side to see if he was even alive.
I thought it was strange that people would worry so much about a person like Ace, a person who just asks for a beating. Thankfully, I was the one who gave it to him. I knew it wasn’t anything to be really arrogant about but he did have it coming.
“What the hell is your problem?” A stranger, most likely Ace’s friend blustered into my face. I didn’t reply. I didn’t care. I saw him beaten down, weak trying to stand but couldn’t.
“Somebody Call 9-1-1,” I heard a girl scream standing near him. I never fancied fighting. It wasn’t my thing even though I knew I could easily take someone down.
“Hey, Adam,” I heard someone angrily try to yell behind me. I rotated to look over and see Ace spitting blood trying to get my attention. “You better watch your back,” He threatened, now standing. His dark shaggy hair was wet, either from blood or sweat. I laughed in my head knowing he could never take me down. People may have thought I was cocky, but it was the truth.
Most people were frightened of me at school. A lot of people actually envied me, not my popularity, but my strength.
“Whatever,” I whispered and walked away from the dead party. He probably hadn’t even heard my reply. I looked at my watch astonished to see it was already past two. The night air was humid as I looked up at the cloudy sky, not one star visible. I began to trot home. It was nice to be alone I wasn’t a fan of crowded places. I only decided to go to this particular party because I was eminently bored.
I also thought many people would be pleased at my sudden disappearance. I looked down at my patent, now red coloured shirt. I knew I would have to throw this one away, not really caring.
I was glad there were hardly any cars driving down the neighbourhood I still slowly trotted through. It would be terrible to have anyone perceive my image. The houses I walked along side looked very beaten down, and ambushed. I wouldn’t be surprised if people were dismayed to find out I lived in an above average house. Some people might even call it a mansion.
I looked behind me not to startled to see a cop car. I didn’t want to have to deal with this element now and if they saw me I think they’d have a pretty good idea I was in some sort of distress this night. I started walking slightly faster trying not to cause any attention towards me. It appeared that the car seemed to go slower, although I tried not look at it so much. My legs began to feel uncommonly heavy and my heart felt to pound more rapidly than when Ace and I were clobbering each other. The effects of my broken hand were starting to kick in. I could feel the sweat stinging the slashes on my face. I was timid knowing this wouldn’t go well. I didn’t know what to do since I was surrounded by multiple houses.
I decided to take a left turn to detect if they would follow. I wasn’t surprised when they did. I felt unsteady like I was about to fall over. At first it appeared to be a dead end. Thankfully there was a catwalk going to what seemed like an obscure and immense forest.
I began to run. I knew it wasn’t the brightest idea, but as long as I reached the catwalk sooner I’d feel some relief. I didn’t gaze back, knowing I would need to get away. The cop cars sirens turned on probably noticing I had blood blemished all over me. I sprinted for my life. Once I got in touch with the forest I knew it would be easy to elude the cops and the catwalk was now only feet away from me.
I finally reached it. I felt nothing but relief, even knowing the chase had not ended. I scurried along a trail as I grasped that if I continued like this it would not help. I fled off the trail Into the unknown forest, a frightening feeling coming back to me. I began to feel fatigue.
Why did this happen now? And I thought the night couldn’t have gotten worse. I tried to remember how to contact the trail again because if I didn’t, it would not be difficult to get adrift. I tried to look up at the vast sky above me. It was hard since extensive evergreen trees were coping it. I could tell it got slightly clearer since the large moon was very perceptible and I could see stars slightly lighting up the sky.
I continued running almost tripping over roots sticking out of the earth. An aching pain began to take over my leg and I stopped running. The branches were tearing my shirt and stinging my arm. The stinging pain was nothing compared to my now bloody hand. My breathing was to loud and I knew it would have to get quieter but it was hard to overcome this. I stood for a few minutes just anticipating whether in one hour I would be in prison or lost in a forest. Both didn’t seem to pleasant but my choice would be lost.
“There’s no point looking, he’s gone,” I heard a deep voice say freakishly close. I thought I had outrun them by a very wide distance. I crouched down hiding, waiting until I heard no other voices. I looked down at my black leather strapped watch again seeing that it was later than I thought.
It had been almost an hour since I left the party and now I was in a bizarre forest. Weird how things happen. I halted for half an hour just to make certain that no cop was in this forest.
I wasn’t aghast when I realized I was astray. At least I was free, well partially. I approached my cell phone as I materialized that I couldn’t call anyone. Firstly, I presumably had no service, and secondly, who would I call? I kept walking through the overgrown exhausting forest knowing it would have to confine sometime. Thankfully today was a Saturday. Meaning I wouldn’t miss school, even though I hadn’t paid much concentration to school. It was strange, but everything that I got taught felt like nothing innovative. I was lost deep in thought, and in reality. I heard the rattling of branches, knowing it was absolutely nothing. I couldn’t believe how dense I was to even go to the party in the first place. None of this would have happened.
I then suddenly stopped in shock. What laid before my eyes was hard to apprehend at first. I couldn’t believe it. I saw her dark gray eyes focus on me as I ran to her side.
