Honestly, I don't care that she wasn't the real singer, I couldn't care less to be honest.

What I find horrible is that whoever requested the change refused to let the true songstress sing because they deemed her ugly. Isn't that a horrible thing to do to a child? What a blow to her self-esteem!

Yeah, I saw that one the news. Poor little girl :(

and the other girl was getting all the credit. That wasn't fair

Aw that's so mean! Just because the real singer wasn't attractive enough? That's not fair at all. D:<
I'd rather see the real singer than a "cuter" one.

I liek eye candy. That little girl is kawaii

The Chinese are my hero :p

That's terrible. I would have refused to sing if I were the replacement singer.

Not if you lived in a dictator state.

And they should have let the actual singer perform, but the country was on the line. So there are some things that make-up cannot cure...

The country was on the line!

Their lives were in the hands of a 9 year old girl!

Thank god for beautiful people!

The foot prints in the sky were scenes taken from the general rehearsal --> a fake again.... LOL. Anyhoo, the Ceremony was amazing, whether it was fake-ish or not, i enjoyed every second of it.

But getting a new "kawaii" girl to lip-synch is low.

i saw it on the news last night i found it horrible.
i believe that the true girls voice is truly a talent and it was very shameful for them to take something like that away from her and give it to someone else. it shouldnt have mattered about her looks it should have been about her talent and if thats the way they had to do things thats really sad.im sorry for the girl i can only imagine how she felt:mad:

well I guess the whole chinese nation loves to be beautiful. they take the term full of yourself to a whole new meaning. They blatantly took one girl out and put in another one who probably couldn't even sing. ALL for the NATION> lol

Yeah. In America, we just stick to objectifying all women. It's great how you generalize an entire nation of more than a billion people on one girl.

Good point. The US media is trying to turn all girls into anorexic, silicon barbies, and nobody says anything. But China replaces one singer, and the Chinese are the worst people ever.

BTW that whole self-esteem thing, only applies to nations like the US. Anywhere else kids are strong enough that they can deal with whatever problem they have. Because they have to mature faster, and they have to deal with worst problems than self-esteem.

I'm glad I bought my 4th of July fireworks before the Chinese did. There probably aren't any left in the whole world. What an over the top ceremony.

Girl was fake? Who cares.

They said she was too ugly to sing? So? They apparently thought she had a nice enough voice to be used. Doesn't that, like, even it out a bit?

At any rate, who gives a ****? :jcm:

Guy

This wasn't the first time a "fake" singer was used. There was one before in the Winter Olympics before....

But anyways, so much for the cute little girl. So what if she's cute? Now everyone knows she's a fraud. Her reputation has just gone down the drain.....

As for the fireworks, they had actual legitimate reasons for using computer graphics. I personally don't think the fireworks were that big of a deal, but this little girl... damn, I feel bad for her (the REAL singer, I mean, not the faker)

Momo
08-20-2008, 06:05 AM
omg... :< I feel bad for the real singer. I knew something was wrong when the "cute" girl started to "sing"...

I thought all the fireworks were real ... well at least the air is "fresh" somehow >.> lol

They didn't let the real girl out because shes ugly?

DUDE. They did that recently they wouldn't let this Chinese, Gymnast in because of her teeth. (The chinese people) So someone paid her to get them fixed.

Thats damn wrong.

kay! O_o u dunno?

anyway, both the fake and the real singer was in the papers... so i saw, and both of them looks rather kawaii...
yeah, the fireworks were prerecorded there...

guess they put a lot of importance in outward appearance and reputation, but this is a bit too much...
n i'm a chinese, though not in china... =.=

Unfortunately though, generalization is just like ignorance. It's a part of everyone. :/

Poor little girl though :( Sucks that she wouldn't get the credit she deserves. I guess on some levels I can understand why they did it... but just points out what kind of heartless bastards those people were who made that decision.

Good job guys!! Keeping the uglies in the streets and cuties on the screens :good:

I was watching CCTV (sorta like the Chinese CNN) and they showed a segment on the "fake" girl. The reporter was asking her all sort of questions about the performing and singing.

Really felt disappointed at the media. (not that it matters, because it's government controlled)

Guy

Always faking shit? I'm sorry, but where did you get the idea that they were always faking shit? Just because of this one dishonorable moment, you automatically generalize that Chinese are always faking shit? Seriously, how dare you use this one event to generalize an entire race? You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

Hm, there are seriously more examples I can think of that make the Chinese lose my respect. Like how they make knockoff cheap everything and sell them at cheaper prices is just one example of them "faking shit". The biggest gripe I have with them is their drug industry. They sell drugs at cheap affordable prices across the world, but they put a miniscule amount of the active ingredient in the pill so it passes the pill tests, but when people use them there isnt nearly enough active ingredients for the product to be effective. People die because of these dishonorable Chinese businessmen.

Not saying they should be allowed to be stereotyped, but come on, this isnt their first instance of faking anything. Quite frankly I think the country thrives on its knockoffs.

So you blame China but not the import inspectors. How original. You're just like every other China-basher on this planet: It's all China's fault, it's NEVER our fault.

Btw, you ARE aware the CCP has executed officials that were involved in such incidents before, right?

What ridiculous bullshit. China's economy is thriving on knockoffs, is that what you're saying? Tell me, are you really THAT clueless in economics? Explain to me how China can have the world's fourth largest economy based on knockoffs.

Hey guys, this isn't just China who does this. USA does it a lot too. So this is nothing to be all smack-talky at China about. China is great! I'm part Chinese as well. Yeah it's bad that it was faked but every other country does the same so there should be no name calling here.
That was really bad to say that bludd. You should apologize.

Thank you for putting what I want to say in a more positive manner. I'm sick of all the China-bashing recently.

Chill out dude, im not gonna have a debate about China right now. Their country does a lot of things I disapprove of, I would rather not talk about it right now though. The USA arent the saint of saints either, but it isnt them that were up for scrutiny, are they?

And im not generalizing all Chinese people.

I hate when people start offending and 1-upping when everything makes the same dayum mistakes. Seriously man. Nobody's perfect and things happen for reasons and every country has bad stuff that they do so seriously, everyone stop complaining and talking crap.

Now, now. Let's not go around accussing an entire nation for what a few have chosen to do. Any further bashing will be reprimanded.

As to the event itself, I was quite shocked when I heard about it over the news the other day. I honestly didn't expect it all =/. There's nothing much that can be said about this though. It's all done and over now. I just hope that such events weren't/aren't practised throughout the Olympic Games, thereby questioning the integrity of the games.

I've seen it before somewhere... I didn't think she was that ugly. In fact, she just looked normal to me. I think what Zhang Yimou and the other staff said was that she was not that cute, and not "she was ugly".

I think the main complaint was the crooked teeth.

I don't really have an issue if someone else sings for someone (India does it all the time in their films), but the thing that I find that seems wrong was the reason they gave.

The fact that they did not allow the real singer sing because she was not considered attractive enough it what bothers me. I saw a pictures of the girl who was the singer and she was not unattractive IMO.

China wanted to put on a show that was perfect, so they did this. Oh well, the Olympics have still been great.

Even though they may have some underage Gymnasts on their team :eek13:

I'm not exactly sure where "ugly" came in, tbh. When I first heard about this news in Chinese, they described it saying "she wasn't cute enough". I guess overtime, rumors just got so greatly exaggerated that we all believe the real singer to be ugly, while she's really not.

zonda
08-27-2008, 04:00 PM
the real singer wasn't even ugly, i thought she looked alright. and it really shouldn't have mattered what she looked like, she has an amazing voice.
apart from that and and a couple of fake fireworks, the olympics were brilliant
GBR came fourth! woo!!!
