Anime Saimoe Tournament 2007 organized by 2ch in Japan, it also covers the Korean Saimoe which is also held at the same time and since most of the Korean users also participate in the Japanese tournament, which attracts more interest, it serves as a good indicator of the characters' "Mojo Appeal" in the Japanese tournament.

Basic Facts:

What is the Saimoe Tournament?

Saimoe tournament is an internet event where fans get to vote for their favourite character. Moe characters are entered because to the fans, they are moe. Hence the name Saimoe. The 2chan board has been holding the Saimoe tournaments since 2001.

Anime Saimoe Tournament is mainly for female anime characters that are most popular this year (and the previous), meetings are held at 2ch Salon Board.

This tournament is not just a fight to see who will win or who will be most moe, but it is also to get fans from everywhere to join hands, cooperate and support for the character they love.

Maria was one of the most moe characters of the show. Even the other characters thought she was moe.

It's going to be a recognition, thing too. Wagaya is still airing right now and Ef was a show from last year. I consider Chihiro an underdog in this matchup (pun not intended).

Edit: Although, this is first year Ef has been eligible, since it aired Oct-Dec 2007.

Clannad did very well in some earlier matches. Like Tianzi has already been knocked out by them, as well as Sheryl Nome. But I think this is a bit too much for a sure victory.

No, seriously, though. The charts are easy to read, they run like a Final Four bracket. If a character loses their score is listed in a grey box (or white on Hira's chart), and the winning characters' colors slowly progress from the outer edges to the middle of the page. Every character has a different color assigned to them. Matches that have yet to happen are white boxes with the date listed.

It's only confusing because the bracket is so BIG. ^^

It's really more about the feelings you get from these characters. Moe could be defined as a particularly likeable character, someone who the audience finds themselves wanting to see suceed in the series or that they sympathize with when things don't go right.

... Then there is the charcater design style that is tailored to illict these reactions from the audience.

Which one the Saimoe Tourney is trying to judge is anyone's guess.

The sad thing is, no matter how hard I would have tried, I never would have been able to vote for Rika.

1. The internet at my home blocks the vote code thingy, therefore I could not vote for her there.
2. I don't work on Sundays so I wouldn't have been able to vote for her at work...concidering that it wasn't blocked that day. [I still have no idea as to why it wasn't blocked yesterday...]
3. By the time I get to work, the voting is usually almost over. On the rare occasion that I manage to arrive early and get to vote, Monday was unusually busy and the managers were running around, so I couldn't get onto Saimoe without getting in trouble.

Looking at all of that, it looks as if some unknown evil force did not wish for me to vote for Riku.

I kind of want Haruka to beat Fuuko so if Hanyuu wins, she will beat Haruka. but if San beats Hanyuu then I would want Fuko to beat her.

Group B1 and B2: Kirino will win B1. no doubt about it. which is okay with me. I don't care about B2.

Group C1 and C2:
Kagami will beat Amu. Kyou will beat Kana. Despair ;_;

Group D1 and D2:
This is a big one. Tomoyo and Rena will most likely be the winners. But I don't want them to go against each other because Tomoyo will beat Rena. DESPAIR ;_;
So I actually want Konata to win.

Group E1 and E2:
These are the least predictable matches. it could really go either way. I really hope Shana beats Nanoha so maybe Tamaki or Chiaki can advance. Tamaki is probably the stronger character so I hope Tamaki wins and then beats Shana.

Group F1 and F2:
Once again, I can't be too sure about who will win these. I'm guessing Akari will beat Chihiro and Nagi will beat Tsukasa. But you never can tell. I actually want Tsukasa to beat Nagi. And of course, I want Chihiro to win her match.

Group G1 and G2:
Noe and Hinagiku will win. no doubt about it. and then Hinagiku will crush Noe ;_;

So once Noe, Hanyuu, Tamaki, Chiaki and Rena are gone, I'll probably stop following this tournament. I just hope one of those will make it to the final 8

Rena lost. Now I am 100% sure that no one I like will win this time. Hanyuu doesn't stand a chance. She hasn't been getting much support. And Noe and Aono will be knocked out soon too. My only hope is Tamaki but she will most likely lose to either Shana or Nanoha. *sigh*


todays matches are Tomoyo vs. Konata and Kyou vs. Kana. Since it's a double Clannad day, it's pretty likely that the Clannad girls will win.

I don't want to look at the chart. it will just make me more sad. The thought that Rena might lose never crossed my mind until I saw that Miyako was ahead in the beginning. I was so sure she would win this easily.
