Mm .. after watching ep 62 twice , I noticed that perhaps Aizen n Ukitake once shared a friendship , something along the lines of Ichigo-Ishida , but it later turned sour n changed Aizen into the person we know 2day .
Well , 2 justify my thoughts a bit , everyone is is referring 2 Aizen with a title , but not Ukitake . N when u dun adress n e one by their title , wutever it might be , it means u r pretty close 2 that person . In japanese culture , that is .
N , Ukitake asked Aizen y did he did such a thing , n Aizen said in quest for power . But it's not the things he said , it's the way he looks at Ukitake . Perhaps Ukitake is far more talented or superior or wutnot in wutever field they were both in , n Aizen has been staying in the shadows of Ukitake , which sparked envy which later turned into some evil plans of sorts .
Ukitake remarks that Aizen have fallen so low , meaning , maybe , y is he resorting 2 such a tactic ( Combining with hollows ) .
I dunno . They juz seem 2 share a love-hate friendship kinda thing there .
N if wut I'm saying is true , then there should be someone who is able 2 stop Aizen should n e thing happen ( Ukitake , n of course , Shunsui n Yama Jii ) .
These points may not be of great importance , since they're not the main focus n e way , but I juz wanna know wut people think . Close it if u wan 2 =) .

Yup, I think Aizen sees Ukitake as being powerful.
We can't really speculate their relationship based on that little conversation they had. And umm, I can't really understand half of what you wrote. liek, plz talk n str8 nglish plz.

But how can Aizen turn into the person we know today when he clearly said "the aizen you knew never existed"?

I assume because people aren't one-dimensional? Aizen put up a game face (a father-child role) specifically to use Renji, Kira, and Hinamori to further his goals.
They confused his polite personality with that of a kind senior. It's just the way he is. It doesn't mean he's not evil. It's just like some of the responses to the new NBA dress policy, particularly one from Jason Richardson--"just because you're wearing a suit doesn't mean you aren't a crook."
He's polite. He's also evil. These things aren't mutually exclusive. You have different friends. Many of them see a different face of you. You aren't (hopefully) one dimensional and treat everyone the same; relationships differ. The Aizen they (the subordinates) thought they knew because of the kindness and politeness he fostered does not mean he was all-good and free of sin. They were the ones who were truly duped--they thought Aizen was a man who was just a 1-dimensional, caring father figure to them. They were wrong. It doesn't mean Aizen didn't have significantly different relationships with other characters. While no one predicted the severeity of his actions, it doesn't mean he wasn't close to any of the other captains. I don't tell my friends everything I do, particularly calculated risks which might see me benefit, but they can definitely have a general sense of how I act, and still be my friends. But when those actions go down a slippery slope and are unchecked, you will surprise them even if in retrospect they could see it coming.

I was kind of curious about Aizen and Ukitake's relation after watching ep#62, from the little chat they had, it seems like they were best friends and Aizen knows him pretty well

It's also possible since Ukitake was the most respected of all the captains that he simply became the unofficial spokesperson for all the captains as Aizen was making his escape. Aizen was certainly not grinning from ear to ear and gloating as he had before, rather he was very composed when speaking to Ukitake, as if addressing a senior respectfully before he made his departure.

I think Aizen and Ukitake where rivals or something. Or Aizen just hated the popularity of Ukitake. Perhaps that's why Aizen said Ukitak shouldn't be so arrogant.

I think they were friends, aizen must have come into contact with everybody in SS to see who would be willing to come and do his bidding for him. As one of the longer lived (we think) of the captains, utikate probably knew the fake aizen as well as anyone did (excluding a few obvious characters). There seemed no malice towards each other there, utikate just looked frustrated at aizen, trying to understand why he was doing this :/
I just think he was refering ro him because nobody else was talking.

I think he was scorning his pride actually, and kinda calling him to weak and wimpy to even try to be great. Oh well, only the time and series will tell ^^

I really wouldn't be surprised if they had some kind of friendship in the past. After all, Ukitake was one of the first ones to graduate from the academy, making him much older than Renji and the others. He most likely got to know and understand Aizen much better than the others did.
Or it may have just been too silent of a moment, and the narrator wanted to add some sound into it -_-

Ukitake might have been Aizen's senior, meaning his division's vice captain or they were in the academy at the same time with Ukitake few years before him

I expect aizen to have had a friendship with all the senior captians. Including Urahara and The man with teh brown hair who is supposed to come at any minute to kick broken mask ass etc.

I guess it's possible. But the only way to find out is to wait and see how it developes. I'm willing to bet that the Captain of the 5th Squad when Azien was Vice-Captain, was Ukitake (i have not read the manga so I myself have no idea, it's just a guess)

umm..but..wasn't ukitake taichou in the 13th squad? So, that means taichous can switch divisions? a bit weird though..

Yes. I think so. There is this one episode which takes us into the past of hinamori when she's still in the academy with kira and renji. They showed Aizen as the captain of the5th division but his vice was ichimaru. That has gotta mean that captains can switch divisions. And also in the third closing, one of them feature the 1st captain and somewhere in his past, it showed him training young ukitake and another person whom at first i thought was aizen but other people seem to think of him as shunsui. Based on what i've seen and also on this thread, i believe it was aizen. Am i wrong?

I guess Aizen and Ukitake shared a good friendship in the past. Who knows? Aizen probably respects and admires Ukitake, who although is sick, still can manage his division well..
