If anyone's in a Math Club, I'm going to start one at my school so any suggestions would be appreciated. And no, this is not a joke.

I have sugestions. You need to market yer club to other students by going out and gettin them, its very hard to draw many student to a acedemic club in particular math. I wasnt in a math club but I hepled my friend try to go out and get members. You will need more some members who can help ya redruit right away. And dont just expect alot of people to show up, That why you need to go out and look. It took my friend 3 times before he actualy had enough members to have a functioning math club. Hope all goes well :)

Lol, this IS something interesting. Well, would you believe I'm in the math club at my school?

First things first: You got a sponsor? I'm sure one of your math teachers would jump at the chance. Ask one that isn't too difficult to work with. =)

So, the main math club at our school is Mu Alpha Theta, and it's a real nice organization. Comes with contests, national merit, some real pretty cords at graduation, and a scholarship every now and then. If you're interested in starting a chapter in your school, talk to your sponsor, check online, and I think Mu Alpha Theta sends you a neat little package to get you started.

As a requirement, all members have to tutor, and my school has a fixed Wednesday schedule so we can have endure "University School" (tutoring). Members also have to come to at least 5 meetings or so, and you have to maintain a B in all math classes. Let's see.... uh, my Mu Alpha Theta doesn't do much else, but we got one hell of yearbook picture for this year. It's so cute, for, um, nerds. <3

Doesn't that sound fun? XD

Math club? They actually exist? What exactly does one do at a math club? Just... discuss math? I am fairly skilled in math, I suppose since I am supposedly in a pretty advanced highschool, but I can't say I've ever liked it to the point where I would want to actually have a CLUB for it. To each their own though, I suppose. Hope it works out for you. :winking56

make sure to have a good ammount of people wanting it.. because if its just a few kids chances are depending on the size of the school they may just pass it off as a passing fad and not 'officialize' the club.

I was in a kind of Math club. For the people that failed their GCSE the first time around.
I got a E for effort!
Math really isnt my thing, I am more of an reading and writing person then numerical. Good luck with your club.
Perhaps you could ask a teacher to spread the word in their math class?

math is definitely not my forte but i'm fairly skilled at it though sometimes i'm quite annoyed at the amount of homework i receive in my math classes. as for a math club the idea is one you should definitely pursue and work hard to realize. i know that doesn't really tell you how to recruit members but hopefully its an encouraging word to you. keep it up!

Err well… as we all know maths clubs are viewed with a certain amount of stigma in the play ground… and sure its crowded, it's dirty, it's noisy. And there are too many people who'd just as soon step on your face as look at you. But there've got to be a few sparks of sweet humanity left in your burned-out school. You just have to find a way to mobilize it. You’ll need something that everyone can get behind, a symbol, something that appeals to the best in each and every one of us, something good, something pure, something decent… I speak of course of the great mathlete and brat pack veteran Anthony Michael Hall.

You need to instigate a full out mathematical campaign too grab the attention of the general schooling body! I recommend a strategic Anthony Michael Hall posters campaign in your school perhaps with the following breakfast club quote “Math club, it’s demented and sad… but social”

Seriously tho, that’s what id do if I wanted to start a maths club in school and if someone put those up around my school I would definitely join.

wouldnt it make more sense to have a thread or section based off, asking questions related to school such as homework, or comprehension?

Math is okay. Algebra I is really annoying, but II is pretty easy.

The are some pretty sweet rewards for being in a math club: You get service hours, you get club merit on your transcript, you can some nice cords to wear at graduation, and you get to help your fellow peers.

But the real reason why most kids are in it: another nationally recognized extracircular activity to put on one's transcript.

And I say "NO" to the Club Bleach Math club. Seriously, guys, it's bad enough I'm in one in real life.

And math club members are not all geeks. Some of us are wonderfully talented, fashionable, and gorgeous people (i.e. MooL).

maths club? don't you have to be like uber nerd to get into one of those. i've never been to great at maths mainly due to my lack of effort and lack of interest. I'm uber otaku but not uber nerd.
