So http://stoptazmo.com/bleach is a reliable source? It's translated correctly and everything? I'm so happy! I had downloaded manga from Bleach Portal, and wasn't sure if it would be translated slightly differently than other sites. after all, I didn't even know what they meant when they said Shinigami....pretty pathetic, huh?

Yes, stoptazmo is a reliable source. They distribute manga-rain's scanlations via direct download although manga-rain has requested that they do not do so.

So are there, like, different versions of the scans and translations, and if so which are the best? Downloading from Bleach7 (until I hit the episodes they don't have) I ran into a huge range of translation and scan quality. Some chapters had nice colorings thrown in. Some were crap quality, and others were scaled down so small I couldn't read them. How do I get the best one?
Hollow_Man_ct

i agree with loneigadzra, some translations like Ju-Ni forgets some side words and don't translate them so is there another source for manga scanlation? ( i'm not saying he's bad at translation or anything and Ju-Ni is doing a great job but there could be better )
Injektilo
03-31-2006, 07:52 AM
The variance of quality is purely to do with the original quality of the RAW more than anything else, when the RAW is a gray low quality cam you're going to have more difficulty cleaning it than if it's an immaculate scan. The gradiants of quality are denoted with LQ, MQ and HQ, meaning low, medium and high quality respectively.
Personally I think the [Ju-Ni] translations are spiffy and more importantly (As a reader) they use elegant English making it easier on the eye, but as for alternative download links:
Ju-Ni's Temporary Download Hub. (http://www.savefile.com/projects.php?pid=985952)
Manga7 Downloads (Requires Registration). (http://www.bleach7.com/)
Binktopia Scanlations (Online Viewing). (http://s15.invisionfree.com/Binktopia/index.php?showforum=8)
LoneIgadzra
03-31-2006, 02:59 PM
So then the translators aren't the ones responsible for the horrendous scans? Or worse, photographs? (And still, I mean it's not very hard to do a nice high res scan of something, though cleaning it up I imagine is another matter entirely. But the people who do it probably have Photoshop all set up to help make it go fast at this point...)
Injektilo
04-08-2006, 05:26 AM
Indeed, not the fault of the scanlation groups, no siree. Nothing is ever our fault.
I'm not really sure if there is a way to cut corners with Photoshop, even getting it to poor-but-not-a-fuzzy-grey-mess quality (PBNFGMQ) can be time-consuming.

Well, it's not like we 'forget', we just choose not to scanlate them... they are just advertisement for the series and in the MQ or LQ releases they are left there if they are inside the panels, but they are removed in the hq scanlation.
Why do we remove them? because we don't like them and they are not intended to be there by the author.
How do we know that? because when the chapters are released in volumes those fannings are removed
@Injektilo
Thanks for your words
BTW, you can grab all of [Ju-Ni]'s work at ju-ni.blogspot.com

Hey, anyone know where all the Binktopia scanlations have been disappearing to? I've been really enjoying those a lot (the language is usually very snappy and funny, and frequently makes a lot more sense than the more well-known scanlations, even if not totally accurate). The only ones on their site are the two most recent.

The recent but old (That statement makes little sense, but you know what I mean :p:) chapters will be getting re-released eventually, but for now I believe the main project is, along with keeping up to date with the most recent Bleach chapters, but also to release everything from Bleach 1 onwards, which is... Time consuming to say the least.
However, I may announce that Bleach Chapter 1 is available here. (http://s15.invisionfree.com/Binktopia/index.php?showtopic=153)

If the manga were coloured by Kubo Tite himself i would agree with you... his coloured pages are superbly done!!
He is as good colourist as sketcher (drawer?). He once made a full chapter in color and it was awesome!
I prefer to look at things the way they are supposed to be... if the author publish in B/W that's how it is supposed to be...

I recommend 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org/). Opens rars and just about anything else, totally free. Unlike WinRAR.

Get CDisplay, it plays .rar files directly and is great for manga.
On another note, where is a good place I can download all the manga in bulk (through volumes without having to download one at a time) and that actually has GOOD translations. I want my bleach experiance with manga to be as good as it can be.

Well, I just downloaded all the earlier chapters from www.bleach7.com, which has some bulk downloads, though a few chapters are sorted into the wrong volumes IIRC. There aren't really too many scanlation choices until recently, thankfully, and of the ones in the bleach7.com archives, only a small percentage were of poor quality that I remember.

u can get ACDsee... then u can just scroll down the mouse to read the entire chapter...easy for me....;]
Are there any resources where you can download compilations of the volumes? Individually downloading 230+ files is quite tedious. Rapidshare will let you zip them into 100MB batches.
I'm getting bored waiting for the fillers to end, and want to start reading the manga from chapter 1. Would make things much easier if I could download all the chapters up to the most recent within a couple hours =)

Yeah, it's a pain. I just downloaded them as I read them though. Like, download the next chapter while I'm reading the one before it sort of thing.
Also, one can simply go to the book store and buy (or order) it. It's a little more pleasant than browsing through endless jpegs of varying quality and typo quantities, and I expect KT gets a little more money for his trouble that way. :)
