Dear All,

Konami Corporation of Europe BV (KCOE) are proud to present the latest manifestation of the Dancing Stage / DDR machines – Dancing Stage SuperNOVA (European title).

ATEI 2006 (Jan 24th to 26th 2006 in Earls Court, London) is the fist place in the World that anyone will see the game. The game on show will be approx. 75 percent complete. It will be launched later in the year through the KCOE European distributor network.

We have listened to player’s feedback and included points where possible, to be able to create a product that we feel offers something for everyone, whether a hardcore player or a new player.

At this time the only information I can give you about the machine is:

• The game is a Global version (not regionally specific, therefore US and EU are the same versions).
• There will be a huge track list on it (at this time we are speaking to music licensors therefore the list is not complete).
• There are new modes and game play.

As the name suggests this is going to be big!!!!

Please try to come to ATEI to sample the game and let me know your thoughts and opinions on it.

After the show we are planning on testing the machines in Europe although the locations of the test have not been finalised at this time. I will try to update you all ASAP.

Other interesting things:

- The interface appears to have a tunnel like background which scrolls through several colors, with everyone's favorite song wheel returning. It looks VERY polished and has a dark, futuristic feel to it.

- The cabinet has been recolored red to match the game's dark theme.

- The border on the screen says "Freak That Body".

- Is being advertised as having over 300 songs in the final build (according to the cabinet's sideart).

- Features a new, as of yet named, play style along with Single, Versus and Double.

- Modes are now: All Musics (self explanatory), Tutorial, Medium and Difficult. Difficult is the equivelent on Challenge and Nonstop mode, but at the show only All Musics is playable.

- IIDX transplants feature thier IIDX video as the BG video.

At the heart of any DDR game is the music selection and DDR SuperNOVA is the largest game in the series. The announcement of DDR SuperNOVA in the United States came as no surprise today, with plenty of notes and tidbits already disclosed from the ATEI. However, the buzz around the largest DDR mix to ever be launched was very tangible at Konami's Gamers Day in San Francisco this morning. A keynote address by Yoshihiko Ota, Executive Producer of Dance Dance Revolution noted that the United States should see Supernova populating arcades across the country this Spring. Furthermore, he noted that a European launch of the same game would follow. Lastly, Japan would see SuperNOVA in the arcades to complete the worldwide launch.

SuperNOVA touts a very robust, entirely new engine that makes for sleeker gameplay, new art style backgrounds, and a 300-plus songlist with over 2000 step patterns. New dancers and motion-captures give SuperNOVA even more eye candy than previously offered. From a functionality standpoint, Battle Mode, reminiscent of Disney's Rave/Disney's Mix wil be available, as will Oni and Nonstops. The game will support home version connectivity features, and user-created step data will be playable in the arcade.

YAY! UPDATE!!
this was translated from bemanistyle.com on how the new DDR Machine looks and feels

The new build of DDR SuperNOVA US was featured in Amusement Showcase International, and the first impressions...note that I have not played the previous build before this.

-The interface is what it has been from the pictures, very clean and nice.

-Only Fascination Maxx was available for extra stage, Healing D-Vision was nowhere to be found.

-The only three songs with their IIDX BGA's is DoLL, Xepher, and Murmur Twins. All other IIDX, Pop'n, and GFdm songs all have generic 3D animations.

-You cannot turn off the background dancers except for "dedicated video" songs. The only characters available were Jenny, Afro, Emi, Gus, Ruby, Random (M), Random (F), and Random.

-Battle Mode was available to play. In short? Worthless. The only mods you give to your opponents are speed mods from .5x to 3x, and dark. That's it. And they automatically activate.

-For those wondering, the only real difference that seems to be there for the "Easy, Medium, Hard" difficulties in the opening screen to set it apart from "ALL MUSIC" is that each difficulty seems to only limit your songlist to those kinds of difficulty songs. I couldn't get iFuturelist in Hard mode for example in any stage.

-Scores are all saved on the game's hard drive, after you finish your game, you enter your initials (up to 7 characters), and saves the top 3 scores, and the top score for that machine is displayed with each song (and when you select it).

-You still have to HOLD down start to enter the options menu, if you let go and try to repress it, doesn't work.

-Timing...hoo boy. Big problems. A lot of the new songs, you needed to step noticeably early (unless great attack is your thing). Very frustrating. A few songs were OK (like Flowers and Under The Sky), but otherwise...

-Perfect window, it's about the same as CS DDR. Large, but nowhere near as big as everyone made it out to be.
