and it's pronounce as Gong Xi Fa Chai...it's same as the spelling though..ehehe..

Actually, ' gong xi ' means congradulations, while ' fa cai ' means make a fortune/ get lots of money sumthin like that.Hope I helped a bit. :D

Happy chinese new year to the people who celebrate it, like me and my family. The best thing about chinese new year is getting lucky money in the red envelope.

The dragon dance is pretty amusing as well. When I was a little kid, I was scared of those firecrackers though. The chinese people say lighting those red firecrackers scare away evil spirits.

happy chinese new year!! hmm i actually dont like to use "gong xi fa chai" as it is mostly meant for adults and especially business people as it mens congrats for getting richer..as translated literally..so i will juz say "xin nian kuai le!"

actually there's a story as to why ppl celebrate new year.. this was the version i heard..
i will start wif the classical.. Once upon a time, long ago, there was a monster called "year" it lived in the sea and only went on land only once a year.. people were very frightened of it so they hang red banners and play firecrackers to scare it away. then the next morning when the monster is gone, people greet each other with "congrats" as in u made it or sumthing like dat...
they may be other versions i ont know.. >< haha but yea.. dats the story..
