I don't have one specific favorite, but here are some from my favorites list:

The Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien
J.R.R. Tolkien, Author of the Century by Tom Shippey
The Hitchhiker's Guide Trilogy by Douglas Adams (yes, I know that there are actually 5 books :P )
Dracula by Bram Stoker
Geisha, a Life by Mineko Iwasaki (or Iwasaki Mineko if you want to use Japanese name order, but I wrote it American style since that's how the book prints it)

Those are just the ones I thought of just now, but I think that covers most of it. The only order they're in is the order in which I thought of them.

Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy... I LOVE those books. Seriously. I hve them memorized. I can open them to any page and know exactly what is going on.
Anything by Garth Nix really... I've read them all. I LOVE the sabriel books, and I am beginning to like the Weekdays books too.
cecilia dart thornton - the bitterbynde trilogy. A bit too wordy sometimes, but I liked it.
Life of Pi... I'm not usually into religious books, but I loved this one. Good message.
The Goldan Compass books by phillip pullman, classic.
Discworld series by Terry Pratchett... I love dry british humor, and these crack me up.
Stephen king... anything connected with the dark tower series (which is 3/4 of his books)
the Neverending Story
A Song of Ice and Fire by George M. M. Martin (sooo good)
Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
The Melencholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories by Tim Burton
Ivanhoe
Ender's Game
Stranger in a Strange Land
Um, Harry Potter (haha, have to, I guess :P )
Timeline by Michael Crighton... I know its cheesy, but it is what made me finally realize I want to do archaeology with the rest of my life... either that or quantum physics, but I don't like math :P

Without a doubt, my favourite book[s] would be the Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn "trilogy" by Tad Williams ("trilogy" in quotes because the last book, "To Green Angel Tower, is divided into Part One and Part Two). I've read the 3000+-page trilogy several times since I bought it many years ago, so much in fact that I recently ordered new copies (my old ones are now bound together with rubber bands from heavy usage, and this from someone who is very careful with his beloved books).

I can't really describe why I like it so much... Something in it just tugs at me. The storyline is undeniably superb, and the detail is excellent. It's not the boring bits where some authors would go on for seven pages describing how someone's hair looked while being blown by the wind, but neither is it the "see jane's Hair" type either. XD The plot twists so that even I, who am not usually suprised at things in fictional works, was suprised. Moreover, it was quite realistic, as well. Finally, like what drew me into Final Fantasy VI when it first came out, there was no single hero/heroine. There are a multitude of characters, and the world Williams creates affects THEM more than they affect it.

My favourite book? "Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah" by Richard Bach. It has a brilliant message to it, and it's amazingly written. a very inspiring story, even to an atheist like myself.

I was pulling random books off the shelf in a library just to see if I could pick up anything good and I happened to like Kira-Kira by Cynthia Kadohata (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0689856393/102-7189274-6867345?v=glance&n=283155). The ending of the book made me tear/cry a bit which hardly ever happens with me for books.

Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan

Awesome! I haven't met many WoT friends outside the Dragonmount roleplaying community. Have you read all of them, or still working your way through?

My dad reads those books. He insists that I should read them but they aren't my cup of tea for some reason.

Has anyone actually read A Million Little Peices? Oprah glorified it so much and it was called a bestseller yet I haven't met anyone who read that book.

The Witch, The Lion and the Wardobe was indeed a very good book. I haven't seen the latest movie remake yet, but I will once it comes out on DVD.
