Its fine, fancing your teacher, but anything where teacher/student relationship is going wrong its illegal i think. unless is both parts are well over 16, such as 50/30

A teacher being a paedophile because a student fancies her/him? no.

IF anything sexual occurs, then the teacher is liable for prosecution, no matter, if its an underage boy.

this misunderstanding is due, to "girls" over 16 "apparently" getting away with charges, since the boy consented and would have more physical strength, so people believe that the woman couldnt have raped him if she tried, yet she can still be tried for statutory rape correct? So people think it more acceptable for underage boys to have relationships with over 16 than girls. but its still illegal at any angle.

cough. correct me on any points.

i do advise u stay clear of any teacher/student relationships ESPECIALLY underage.

I think Demexor basically said everything I was gonna say.

No matter what sex the kid is.. it's illegal. I remember hearing about a thirteen-year-old (I think) being in love with a woman in her late thirties.
She was sent to prison for having sexual relations with him - not for long.. for some reason (umm, maybe I have my facts wrong), then went back to her ex-husband and he commited suicide ('cause she wouldn't go back to him). Sad. He was fifteen.

It messes up a lot of kids that kind of stuff, so I don't advise it.

i have had crushes on teachers before, but that was it. its natural at times to care for someone or have other types of feelings for some one who cares about you and shows intrest in what you are doing. even if it is on a small level. its called the florence nightengale syndrome. (refering to patients falling for drs and nurses)

there was a teacher that i had that got married to one of his students, that was rather odd. she graduated 2 years before me and i ended up sitting next to them at my jr prom, she was pregnant, and graduated the previous year. i dont know if they were seeing each other after she graduated or what, at least she was over 18. it was still very odd and kind of discusting really.

Fancying teachers is just a waste of time and not worth it. It might just be a little crush and it's definitely not something you should go for. It happens a lot but I guess you should learn to get over it because it won't lead to anything anyway.

It doesn't matter how old you are. The title of teacher and student itself restricts you from pushing further. Teachers are supposed to be 'second parents' as they say and fancying them is like fancying your own parents....now that's incest! XD

Nothing necessarily wrong with 'fancying' as long as you don't try to come on to them/they don't come on to you. Crushes are harmless, attraction is not a sin. In fact, I think my former writing teacher is gorgeous... he looks like Patrick Dempsey XD but I never actually acted on anything. I have better things to do than to chase teachers (things like going after the rugby captain ^^).

This hits really close to home, though, because my favourite teacher in high school last year apparently had an affair with a girl that was in my class. Kinda creepy and annoying (especially because I know her, and boy... there were many times over the year when I wanted to clobber her for ruining most of our lessons). I only found out about this when uni started in September and we all had this "wow... shock" moment. It was a bit weird because I have never heard of anyone fancying this teacher (except his wife, naturally). Ever. He's just not... fanciable.

I think he's being reviewed now, who knows. It's a shame that this had to happen (as far as I know, she initiated it) because he was an awesome teacher, no matter what.

So yeah, anything past a crush is pretty wrong, but feel free to ogle. ;)

i wonder about teachers thinking about students that way.

something happend to me on the day i graduated that was pretty odd. i had this one teacher, he was the shop teacher and the wrestling coach. so i had to work with him on both fronts. i never thought a teacher would look at me in any way other than a student. and even though my self esteem was pretty bad at the time i guess i was what would be considered a "hard body" thats what they called it back then. or built like a brick house lol. (at the time my measurements were 30" hips 20" waist and 32DD breasts with long reddish brown hair)

anyway. i rarely wore dresses, and the one time he saw me in a dress before that was for seinor dressy dress up day (yah i know lame huh) i wore this short little blue gingam dress, and walked in to class late he had a note for me to report to the office, i grabbed it and ran since i really didnt want to be in shop class with a dress on since we were going to be changing oil that day.

so graduation day came, and i was wearing this nice dark green suit (that matched my car since well i loved my car and yah im a total werido) with a lace top under neath the jacket, he helped me park my car since we all parked on campus that day since every one was going to disneyland for grad night. i never drive in heels so i changed my shoes while sitting with my legs out side the car sitting on the drivers seat. i may have been wearing thigh high stockings since i really hate panty hose. and as usual a garter belt.

so hes standing leaning on my car door chatting to me while i change my shoes, apparently looking down my shirt (like i said lace i didnt have anything under it other than my bra. and well i had and still do have a real nice set. he actually helped me up, and then looked me up and down and said sooo, are you 18.

um no im 17. he got a real disapointed look on his face. i just smiled and walked away.

i know that this teacher stepped over some lines cause one of the guys that i dated for a long time was also in my classes with this teacher (we dated for a while off and on through high school and after) he said that he would go up on the roof and smoke weed with him every day. i said yah well he probably would have made a pass at me if i went up there lol.

Ok, intimate relationships with a minor are wrong if you're of legal age. But what about a legal age student with a teacher?

I've acctually got a teacher thats 22, therefore he's only 6 years older then me (meh I want to strangle him, so immature with fake maturity spats), and if I were a senior he'd only be 4 years older. In Adulthood, age differences really don't matter that much. Theres a 7 year difference in my grandparents and in my parents... my dad is a dick so I cant use that as an example, but it didn't effect how much my grandparents love each other. Though you know thats not always the case, there are plenty of cases with age differents being the rift in couples

If you had the case where you may have a legal age (18, or 17 in some areas) student getting involved with a young young teacher (like the 4 year age difference), is that a crime since they're still student and teacher?

I used to go to an all girls school and when I was in year 11, we got a young, new sports teacher. Pretty much half the year 9-12 class population fell in love with him. They always ask him stupid questions and giggle, wear really short shorts to his sports classes. Some where so bold to give him presents and stuff.

The fact that all these girls were obviously displaying their interest in the sports teacher was really awkward for him. He actually chose to leave the school because of it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with have a mild interest, knowing that NOTHING can EVER happen.

i use to give my teachers presents,

i had a rose bush that was well not only beautiful but very good at giving flowers. it was a peace rose bush. for those who dont know to keep the roses comming you need to cut the buds, so every monday i would come in with roses for all my teachers. they were huge buds too. they loved them, but all my class mates called me a kissass. i didnt care. they got to enjoy my beautiful roses, i got to enjoy them, and i got to piss off my classmates at the same time hehe. here is a pic of a peace rose. smaller than life size actually.

On topic: I think that love should not be barred by social status. However these teacher pupil relationships should not be driven by lust because the meaning of the relationship will be lost and the pupil will be more susceptible to harm. The fact that there may be a massive age gap cannot be overlooked and i think that if the teacher has to be within a reasonable age range like 15 years older otherwise its pretty much paedophilia.

Um... is it wrong? Well, it might be normal for perverts, but for people like me, yeah it is. Legally, it is ok, but having an affair is not. An adult cannot have an affair with a minor, even if the minor is 16 or 17, it is still illegal. However, since this topic is just on "fancying", I'd say it's just rather immoral, but not necessarily wrong.

I think it is pretty common for someone underage to be attracted to a teacher. I think it is the whole "authority figure" thing. So no, I wouldn't say it is wrong. It'd be like saying if you're underage it is wrong to find anyone of legal age to be attractive. I doubt there have been many kids who didn't find a musician or movie star attractive.

Of course I find it monumentally stupid if you would try and start a relationship with your teacher. As much as people of legal age shouldn't be looking for underage people, young people should try to protect themselves from pedophiles. "Hey, you look like the kind of person who is sexually attracted to young children. I'm a young child. Wanna go out?" Also, you'd risk destroying the teacher's career. If, for some reason, you find yourself madly in love with your teacher, do both of you a favor and wait until you're 18+ and graduated. Then approach them.

I think more than that, the problem lies with if a teacher "fancies" a student. I also think that goes with anyone over 18 being attracted to someone under the age of legal consent. It doesn't matter the gender of the people involved (since that was mentioned in the original post). I find it even more wrong if the over-age person is in a position of authority over the kid.

Basically, I don't support pedophilia of any kind (and I think that should go without saying,) but if you're just asking if it is ok for a student to be attracted to a teacher (but not acting on that attraction) then sure.

If the student fancies the teacher, no.

If the teacher fancies the student, it depends on the law. Obviously, the answer is yes if the student is 11 and the teacher is over 18. But I've heard that in some states, there are laws which consider the age gap between the parties (for example, if the student is 17 and the teacher is 20). I'm not sure.

Both parties are of legal age. Legally, there's nothing wrong. But:

Like others have said, it's really out of your hands whether or not you feel attracted, sexually or otherwise, to someone. How you choose to act on those impulses are another matter, however. Know where you stand and exercise caution.

hmm, not treat them as sex idol, just its natural to get attracted to the opposite sex no matter what they are. I kinda got carried away on my post, that happens when you write @ 12 am XD. And there are different kinds of "love". Father love, bro love, friend love, pet love etc. Love as of a relationship love is what i meant, most teens dont know what love (relationship) is and end up doing stupid things. And yeah, its not a scientific fact but its an experience and I and lots of other people i know has been fooled by the "teen love". Its not till you get out of that fantasy bubble that you notice how foolish this "love" was.

My ex-gf was actually my TA for my Physics class. Granted we waited till after I had finished the course before we started dating (University Policy). And as far as Statutory rape goes, I'm on the "unpopular" side it seems becasue I believe that the "right age" is different for everyone. I don't think some people are ready at 17 to have sex, and I think some people are ready at 15. I was sexually active at 16 with an 19 (we had been dating for 3 years so it started out legal), and I don't feel like I was abused, I wanted to have sex, it's not like she used here "superior" mind to trick me into thinking I wanted to have sex. And so I feel that a teacher and a student should be able to date as long as the student is not currently in a class that the teacher teaches (to avoid possible grade changes etc.).
And now in closing, my gf of 19 months (I'm proposing tonight at dinner)and I are expecting our first child, (I don't care either way, but for my example let's say its a girl) When my daughter starts dating and getting serious with boys, I won't flip out if she brings home a 19-20 year old, but I will talk with her and if I feel she is truely wants to be in the relationship of her own accord I will give her my blessing because I value the freedom to do what you feel is right(as long as you don't infringe upon others rights)

Aaaanyway, I've had a friend who had a crush on a temporary teacher before. She was gaga over him since he was a fresh graduate who was young and quite good-looking. It wasn't wrong to like the teacher (even though I personally hated the teacher 'cus he was stuck-up =__=). It was only wrong if she decided to take steps to 'woo' the teacher.

It would obviously not work out between the both of them, not only because of their age difference but also because of their current positions. She was once at the point where she was convinced it was true love because she couldn't do anything to get him off her mind, at which I was quite disgusted because I would die before I ever...never mind >__>;

Ergo, feelings can't be helped, just don't act on those feelings 'cus they're just crushes and will go away after some time.

I admit it, me and 2 friends thought that my science teach was hot, then this fatass comes up to me and says "Don't tell anyone, but I think our teacher is hot" and we all just said "Obviously". It ain't wrong unless you go under the bed sheets, and butter the biscuit. I think I also had a crush on my 2nd Grade reading teacher, but meh couldn't care less.

Oh yeah in my middle school, one of the counselors got fired over having intercourse, and molesting various kids.

i think one reason why for example high school girls become attracted to older guys or guy teachers because they see a certain maturity they dont see in guys their age. there is more experience and wisdom and maturity. however, i dont think merely having crushes on teachers is wrong. we can have crushes on anyone! but when we take it to another level then i guess it shouldnt be so... until u are 18 or something since by then u are considered an adult.
