Whats been going on?

Ok heres the situation, well I haven't been watching anime at all since summer of 2005 came and now im starting to get myself back into it and well now that im trying to get back in I realize that I'm soooo far behind and the last thing i remeber is Ichigo and everyone going into the soul society and ichigo was fighting the Big guy with spikey hair who had that little girl who had pink hair. I cant really remeber any thing else and so I would really apperciate it if someone either told me exactly which episode that is or explaining to me whats happened from Ichigos fight with that guy until now.

i wasnt sure but Ichigo won. Ichigo broke his sword during the battle so Zangestu (i think his name) gave Ichigo a second chance to fight kari-chan. The first time Ichigo is almost dead the second time they both fainted which made Ichigo won.

well something like that happen.both of them fainted and ichigo won the match.by the way the spikey hair guy is zaraki kenpachi and he is a captain.
the pink hair girl is yachiru,his vice captain.

I'm pretty sure it was around episode 37

Episode 36 is the arrival of Zaraki Kenpachi. Episode 37, however, is just a huge flashback with Sado and 38 is where the action really starts to pick up. So I would start around episode 36 just to refamiliarize yourself with whats going on before you get into the actual fighting.

Smallkid is right. You really have to see the fight by yourself, it's one of the best fights in the anime so far.

they both bloody each other up badly, and end up as like a double KO. the episodes i think are in like the 30s to 40s. and yea, u gotta watch it instead of jus listening or reading wut happeneed =]
