View Full Version : Comparison between Bleach and...Inuyasha?

Anybody else notice that soul slayers (mainly Zangetsu) and Tetsuiga (Inuyasha's sword) are similar? When in their normal forms, soul slayers (with the exception of the rediculously large Zangetsu) and Tetsuiga both resemble katanas. When Tetsuiga transforms, it becomes this huge, powerful sword with a similar shape to Zangetsu's Shikai. Difference is that Zangetsu has sharper angles and is black with no hilt. Tetsuiga has this furry hilt and is a little rounded. Tetsuiga's Wind Scar is also similar to Zangetsu's Getsuga Tenshou. Just a little odd comparison i realized while watching Inuyasha on Tuesday (or Wednesday if you want to get technical).

Tetsusaiga - the Defender of man

Zangetsu - Soul Slayer

The ability to slay 100 demons in one swing

You never know. Kubo may have been inspired a little bit by Inuyasha. It's a possibility, though not necessarily true.

actually i felt that bleach had a shadow of inuyasha from the beginning. not from the actual 'ken' but the way they were so reckless when they fought. The abilities of the swords are kinda similar too. Some powerful attack directed by the sword...

Bleach, to me, feels a lot like every Fighting Anime I've ever enjoyed. A little bit of Ruroni Kenshin, some Yu Yu Hakusho, a dash of Naruto, a sprinkle of Inuyasha, the aroma of Dragonball Z....

You get my point.

That's because Bleach is teh ultimate!!! Now that I think on it, the resemblence between them isn't in power or techniques, but rather the use.
Example:
Tetsuiga: the wielder needs to learn the sword, commune with it and the sword will him it's powers.
Zangetsu: Same. Strawberry needs to learn Zangetsu, to undersatnd him, and thus realize it's power.

Tetsusaiga can be wielded by anyone who has a heart to protect someone. Hence why Sesshomaru can wield it and use the wind scar, but not for too long cuzz it burns him.

tetsusaiga doesnt give power to the wielder. the wielder doesnt give power to tetsusaiga. the wielder just needs to be able to see the wind scar, and that comes from personal training.

The similarities are basically the power of the swords and a bit of a few of the characters. But i believe inuyasha has a lot more of drama compare to bleach. And bleach is much more action-packed with more jokes to laugh on. I know that because i am an Inuyasha fan before turning into a Bleach fan. Used to watch the series over and over and over again until i couldnt stand kagome's dramatic actions and miroku's pervertic acts.

Yes, Inuyasha is a lot more dramatic. I just thought the shikai and Getsuga Tenshou of Zangetsu was very similar to Tetsuiga's "released" form and Wind Scar.

Sesshoumaru used Tetsusaiga in some of the first episodes, and he obviously had no intention of protecting anyone or thing but himself. Anyone can use the sword if they know how to use it. The barrier just reacts negatively to the blood of maliscious demons, hence why Sesshoumaru needed the human arm to use it.

There is big controversy about that because it states that only people who wish to save/protect other people can wield it.

It doesnt matter if your Human or not.

Inuyashas Father was full blood and he used all 3 swords.

but, yet again, sesshomaru can only wield it "well" with a faux arm (human). It was only because he had a fragment inbedded in it tho~.

If he does use the sword, it burns him. He can do the wind scar, cuzz he can see it, but he cant hold on too it for too long because he doesn't have the need to protect someone.

Agreed. Sesshoumaru couldnt hold on to it because he did not have the heart or intention to save oters but h could still use it, only for a brief moment, because he knows ow to use it, as in he can see the wind scar.

bleach is WAY... Better

Soul-Slayer
03-26-2006, 09:29 PM
Well. As much as I hate to admit it. But the SS (Soul Slayer) Is like Tetsuiga. But in the "VS", mode I'd say neither.

100 Demons in one swing. (This is with luck. Remember)

Soul Slayer (Shikai/Bankai, deadly attacks)

Uhh... Well in this case. Soul Slayer?

Well, I say either both or neither. Yes, there are similarities, but is it so with other animes as well. It's inevitable, neh? Besides, both Bleach and Inuyasha are like mini-burgers and cheesecake. Both have their own textures and flavors, and both are awesomely delicious:p:
