I thought that they were going on forever and I still see posts that says "It'll probably be 90 episodes". They couldn't possibly close an anime as great as this?

Actually an Anime depends on the studios that make it... they can make it go on and on (along the Manga), or they can cut it in the middle... anyway, as it seems now, Bleach will keep going till the Manga is over, and the Manga still has a lot to go on... ^_____________________________________^

Itwould be very sad indeed if they ended Bleach prematurely. However, I doubt that they will seeing how popular it is in Japan, hence it is still making them money.

It depends on the studio that makes it. But I highly doubt that they will end Bleach early because it very popular in Japan right now. It's one of the money makers out there. The anime will stop when the manga stops.

It was originally rumored to have end by ep. 70. As you can see, it is clearly beyond that now...

Length of the show is equal to how many ppls watch it.
Thats why some uber aniems got to be so short. (cowboy bepop)
If ppls dont like it, it will stop.
If bleach is so cool and everyone loves it it will have more and more episode.

Yes, bleach will continue for a long time because of its popularity and the direction that the manga is going. Some animes end prematurely because the ratings just suck, or they get so engulfed by filler, that they lose their popularity permanently. (i.e. Rurouni Kenshin after Shishio fight) I seriously doubt that this will be the case with Bleach though.

Just the fact that they're taking the time to do filler episodes proves that they have long term plans for the anime. I think with all the success the anime/manga has it will be a very long running anime like Inuyasha, Naruto, etc.

As long as the ideas and such do not get boring, the show will go on

Assuming there are no more twists and turns and the defeat of Aizen will finish the show, and the fillers are gonna end at episode 90, it'll probably take another 30 more to finish it up. So I think it'll at least go for 120.

Hope it goes on longer. It would suck to see a good anime like Bleach end under 100 episodes.

Well , it's one of the more popular animes in recent times , so I don't really it's gonna be as short as 90 or 100 episodes . Sure , it'll come to an end someday , but not someday soon .

I sure hope it won't get cut off in the middle of nowhere , the way they did with Zombie Powder . I love that series . Damn .

Zombie Powder was cut "due to too much nudity and sexual innuendo" Bleack lacks those... Besides that, the story has just begun to truly develop (Manga-wise), and after they finish the character development (the Manga may not show it but they may do it in the Anime) there are still the battles to be played out.... many enemies to defeat... hey, they send it ends by episode 53... and then episodes 53-54 came out. Almost all the theories about when Bleach ends are just that, theories...

Then again it could have nothing to do with the popularity of the anime, the sucess of the manga or how much story is left, like Inuyasha. The studios could just have problems with funding or coprights and stuff and just have to drop the project. Or the studio could just plain run out of money for the project. Studio Gainax is famous for having to cut series or hastily patch in the endings because of lack of funds.

Thankfully, Bleach is not an artsy type of anime and it has lots of marketing and commercial value so funding should not be a problem. Now if only Kubo Tite would hurry up with the story....

I say it'll go on as long as the studio gets profit out of it. It's business after all. If there's no profit then they'll drop it.

Well, when you look at a show like DragonBall and Gundam, you'll know they can get really really long.

Dragonball, the original series was longer then Bleach is now, Dragonball Z counts somewhere around 290 episodes if I recall correctly, DragonBall GT around 50 (and honnestly, the way DBGT ended, they could restart the series once again)

Other then that, there were like 14 movies and some summary movies of DB made.

Then, stuff like Pokemon(which I hate) has douzens of games, a load of movies and 100's of episodes too.

So answer to your question, an Anime can be short like Cowboy Beebop, around 20 episodes or neverending like the Dragonball series which was on for years and still has a massive fanbase.
