In European cultures, white is usually used to represent good and black represents evil. Just look at some old cowboy serials where the bad guy wears the black hat and the good guy wears the white one (and neither ever has his hat fly off).
Is this different in Japan?
I'm asking as Ichi's color seems to be black... as is Zangetsu.
Ichi's hollow is white which I assume he is b/c white is the opposite of black. So Ichi is good, and Ichi's hollow is evil obviously their colors have to be opposite. But which one I'd assume would be white is black.
Of course hollows might not be actually evil, although all the ones we've seen have behaved like they are evil.

i heard this from somebody before but i'm not sure that this is right, but white colour seems to resemble death and bad fortune,so maybe black is living and luck???

Maybe it's that way, Ichigo is evil and Hichigo is good. We'll have to wait and see.

In most asian culture, white symbolizes death...coz usually when someone dies, we wear white..not black..
So, I guess the white ichigo is evil...

I think white's good & evil alignment in the show has to do with the nature of hollows and the very name of the anime. You could say that the monsters born from fallen human souls have been "bleached" of their humanity. Man, I'm good.

definetly you have a nice point there suigetsu,

Maybe it's that way, Ichigo is evil and Hichigo is good. We'll have to wait and see.

if ichigo was the evil one, we wouldn't have been having an anime nor manga with the leading character ichigo.

No one has ever done that before. If someone made an anime where you followed the main chracter and then he turned out to be the bad guy, that would be epic.

Could it have somethiing to do with poeple 'claiming' to see a white light before they die? Or white tunnel...something like that.
