This question is sort of stupid but..

Episode 1, Rukia refers to Ichigo as Lord Baron. Was he some figure in Japanese history? I'm assuming she was being sarcastic in a way..:| Ichigo questions her about it, but she quickly continues with her explanation about Hollows and Shinigami.

I feel stupid for making a whole entire thread just for this one question..but it's been bugging me forever.

i dotn remember such a thing but i will speculate..

well, as you know Ichigo closely resembles Kaien. Kaien is of nobility and "lord baron" sounds like some strange pun to me. Lord and Baron both denote some sort of nobility and maybe its just a joke between Rukia and Kaien.

i doubt its true but its just a thought.

I think that Rukia was referring to the Red Baron, hence the mustache. He was a famous pilot in WWI that was 80-0 in air combat, until he was shot down by snowy evans (supposedly). I'm almost certain that this is who Rukia is talking about when she calls him lord baron. But then again I dont know my Japanese history that well, so I might be wrong.

It's either that or as Prophesy said. She called him Lord Baron because:
a. She was refering to that pilot with the mustache.
or
b. she was making a pun on him. Since she is of nobility, she has that arrogance that is like "you are nothing so don't answer me" attitude, and because Ichigo doesn't give a damn about that stuff (even if he knew), she calls him "Lord Baron" sarcastically.
